These Pokemon games are completely different from your average title in the series. So let's see what's up with this title. The game starts up with a pretty basic series of questions, depending on how you answer these you'll get a different starter protagonist. The answer to the questions determines which pokemon we'll get to play as.
We join a rescue team and we're supposed to help residents of different zones in danger. As the story progresses we are going to find out why these disasters have been happening, and how these rescue teams work. This spin-off was a double release. They released the first Mystery Dungeon game for two different consoles at the same time. The DS was still in its early years and these two consoles got along pretty well.
Both versions of the game were pretty much identical. This wasn't great for the DS since it wasn't able to use more of the console's power. But it was amazing to see there two consoles delivering the same quality and game experience. You could argue that the DS version had the upper hand, thanks to all the ergonomic and hardware advantages the DS had. Even the controllers were a bit improved too, but with all that, they are still technically identical. This spin-off turned out great, interesting gameplay in an already great game world.
Randomly generated dungeons make every mission unique. One day the player awakens to find that he or she has been turned into a Pokemon. The land is being ravaged by natural disasters so the player decides to form a rescue team with a partner Pokemon. The player can interact with many different Pokemon on various missions while trying to uncover their true purpose and destiny.

It may confuse some and frustrate others, but its addictive nature should keep you hooked until you learn to appreciate the art of the dungeon crawl. While Nintendo DS owners may feel cheated at the poor second screen features, or may even feel violated by the graphics on their system compared to what they've come to expect, GBA owners can feel safe in the knowledge that this is one of the best looking on their system and that only one good screen, which is what the GBA possesses, is really needed to fully enjoy the gameplay.
